Timothy L. Wiater, PT, DPT, OCS, MBA, CKTP

Director, Physical Therapist

Timothy received his undergraduate degree in Biology from Miami University. He attended Wayne State University where he received his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2009. Tim then completed a Masters in Business Administration degree at Oakland University in 2010. He went on to receive his certification as an orthopaedic clinical specialist (OCS) by the American Board of Physical Therapy Specialties. He is a certified kinesio taping practitioner (CKTP) by the Kinesio Taping Association International, and is certified in instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization (IASTM) in FMT Blades and FMT Blades Advanced through Rocktape. In addition, Timothy’s continuing education includes course work in manual and manipulative therapy, TRX suspension training, management of orthopaedic conditions, Stott Pilates Intensive Reformer instructor training, and post-operative rehabilitation of total joint arthroplasties. Timothy and his wife Jeannette opened Michigan Orthopaedic Rehabilitation and Michigan Hand Therapy in Birmingham in 2012.

 

Jeannette R. Wiater, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Jeannette received her undergraduate degree from Michigan State University. She then attended the University of Michigan where she earned her Doctor of Physical Therapy degree in 2009. Jeannette spent her clinical training working with orthopaedic conditions, sports medicine, and women’s health conditions. She has over 10 years of outpatient clinical experience.

Lisa DeConinck, PT, DPT, CKTP

Physical Therapist

 

Lisa DeConinck has over 25 years of experience as a physical therapist. She received her undergraduate degree from Kalamazoo College before attending the University of Michigan where she received her Masters in Physical Therapy in 1995 and her Doctorate degree in Physical Therapy in 2011.  Her doctoral work focused on reverse total shoulder arthroplasty.  With over 20 years of clinical experience in outpatient orthopedics, Lisa has extensive experience in ACL and joint replacement rehabilitation.  Her continuing education courses have focused on clinical orthopedics with a special interest in functional closed kinetic chain exercises, manual therapy, joint mobilizations of the extremities, and, most recently, kinesio taping.  Lisa is a credentialed clinical instructor by the American Physical Therapy Association and Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner. She has also completed the Stott Pilates intensive reformer instructor training program. She is certified in instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization in FMT Blades and FMT Blades Advanced through Rocktape.

Anne Chmielewski, OTR/L, CHT, CLT, CKTP

Occupational Therapist

 

Anne Chmielewski is a graduate of Saginaw Valley State University in 2003 with Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. Since, she has spent the last 15 years working with hand and upper extremity injuries. Her experience includes trauma, fractures, tendon and nerve lacerations, and joint replacements. In 2009, she earned her designation as a Certified Hand Therapist through the Hand Therapy Certification Commission. She continues to complete educational courses to further her expertise focusing on rehabilitation of the upper extremity in order to provide better care for her patients. Anne has also completed her training as a certified lymphedema therapist (CLT) through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies. As a CLT, she is trained in complete decongestive therapy including manual lymph drainage and compression bandaging techniques. Anne is also a Certified Kinesio Taping Practitioner, and is certified in instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization in FMT Blades and FMT Blades Advanced through Rocktape.

Christine Buchanan, PT, MPT

Physical Therapist

 

Christine has over 20 years of experience as a physical therapist. She received her undergraduate degree from Grand Valley State University and completed her Master's in Physical Therapy from University of Michigan-Flint. She is a runner and enjoys working with athletes post injury so they can return to doing what they love.  She has started programs specific to prevention of ACL tears in high school female athletes focusing on jump training. She is certified in Stott Mat Pilates and has completed the Stott Intensive Reformer instructor training program. Christine has extensive experience using her Pilates and reformer training working to advance stability in athletes such as basketball players, runners, volleyball players, swimmers and figure skaters. She provides private and group classes to swim teams to improve core strength and work to prevent injuries. Christine also is now focusing on working with women before, during and after pregnancy to educate them on proper postures and exercises to prevent injury and allow them to safely and appropriately regain the strength needed to return to a healthy active lifestyle.  She is certified in instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization in FMT Blades and FMT Blades Advanced through Rocktape. Christine also splits her time working with the Pediatric population. For 17 years she has worked to advance the skills of our younger patients impacted from birth by gross motor delays, torticollis, and muscular and neurological conditions. She also works with University of Michigan-Flint and their student internship program.

Nicole Korbecki, MS OTR/L, CBIS, LMT

Occupational Therapist 

Massage Therapist

 

Nicole received both her bachelor and master's degrees from Grand Valley State University. She has over 18 years of experience working with both adult and pediatric populations in Occupational Therapy. She has worked in a variety of settings including: community based neurorehabilitation programs with adults, teens, and pediatric patients; in the school system with pediatric patients; acute care; home health care; and outpatient orthopedics.  Nicole is a Certified Brain Injury Specialist through the Academy of Brain Injury Specialists, registered by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapists, and is a member of the American Occupational Therapy Association.  Nicole has completed continuing education with additional focus on neurological disorders, manual therapy, orthopedic injuries, developmental milestones, visual motor integration, and treatments for ASD, ADHD, and SPD. She is also Stott Pilates Intensive Mat instructor trained.  Through Rocktape, Nicole holds certifications in: instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization in FMT Blades and FMT Blades Advanced, FMT Rockpods Myofascial Cupping, FMT Rockfloss Compression Band Flossing, and FMT Kinesiology Taping Techniques.  In addition to her occupational therapy license, Nicole is also a licensed massage therapist with 17 years of experience in medical massage, certified through Blue Heron Academy.

Josh Wenzlaff, PT, DPT, ATC

Physical Therapist

 

Josh received his undergraduate degree in athletic training from Saginaw Valley State University in 2015, then completed his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree from The University of Michigan-Flint in 2018. In addition to being a physical therapist, Josh is also a board certified Athletic Trainer. He spent the first year of his career in the acute care setting treating patients with orthopedic, oncology and neurological conditions. His continuing education has focused on orthopedics with an interest in manual therapy and joint manipulation of the spine and Pilates. Josh is certified in instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization in FMT Blades and FMT Blades Advanced through Rocktape.

Brandi Myke, PTA

Physical Therapist Assistant

Brandi has over 20 years of experience in outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy. She graduated from Macomb Community College  in 2000 with her degree as a physical therapist assistant.  Brandi has taken multiple continuing education courses in manual therapy and functional mobility  training. She is certified in instrument assisted soft tissue mobilization in FMT Blades and FMT Blades Advanced through Rocktape.

Denise Dean, PT, MPT

Physical Therapist

Denise received her Masters in Physical Therapy from Oakland University. She has over 20 years experience in outpatient orthopaedic physical therapy. She has completed her instructor training in Stott Pilates Mat and Intensive Reformer. Denise is an avid runner and mother of 5.

Megan Jones, PT, DPT

Physical Therapist

Megan received her undergraduate degree in biology from Siena Heights University in 2017 while also playing collegiate softball. She then completed her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from the University of Michigan-Flint in 2020. Megan spent her clinical internships working with patients of all ages who have orthopedic and neurologic conditions. Megan has completed her instructor training in Stott Mat Pilates and will begin the Reformer Pilates teacher training course in spring of 2022. She is presently treating both adult and pediatric patients at MOR.

Jeanne Slowley, MA, CCC-SLP/L

Speech and Language Pathologist

Jeanne has over 30 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist. She received both her undergraduate degree and Master in Communication Disorder and Sciences from Wayne State University. She has extensive experience in both pediatric and adult populations delivering services at the hospital, clinic, home, and within the community.  After spending time as an Administrator, Jeanne realized that her true passion was direct patient care. Her areas of specialty are hearing impairment, swallowing/feeding disorders, aphasia, cognition related to brain injury, neuromuscular disorders and speech-language disorders.
